Morocco Imilchil Wedding
Festival : Marriage
The wedding feast of Imilchil is an
opportunity for any visitor to witness the particularity
of the Ait Hdidou tribe in terms of the natural
socio-cultural and economic aspects. This marriage goes
beyond its literary significance as a simple union of a
young couple to open on other horizons characterizing the
life of the people on this part of the world. No gathering
is known for the two fractions of Ait Hdidou tribe and
the neighbouring ones as a moment of exchange and
purchase of agricultural and craft products once in the
year as it represents the only market of the year
"Souk Aam". On the other hand, this meeting is the
sole engagements for the young ones and possibilities for
already engaged ones to celebrate their union publically
and make it official by receiving the marriage record on
the festival date. The organisation and celebration of the
wedding for the Ait Hdidou tradition crosses then the
following steps. On the first day, the messengers of the
bride-groom "Isnayens" go to the brides
parental home taking gifts a sheep and a big bread called
"Abadir" which is divided into pieces and
ditributed to the ceremony assistants as a manner of
gratitude for the warm welcome they are subjected to they
are received into the guests room and are offered four
customary plates namely dates, butter, honey and milk.
This witnesses the good will of the bride's family who
wishes that this union be proportional to the admiration
granted by the guests to the richly varied plates.
